Essential Responsibilities:

The responsibilities of the Service Writer include, but are not necessarily limited to:

  • Assuring the profitable operation of the Service Department.
  • Assuring compliance with all Federal, State, and Local health and safety law, ordinances, and policies.
  • Accurate and timely completion of all repair orders.
  • Accurate and timely estimation of work in the shop.
  • Satisfaction of each customer.
  • Assuring the highest standards of quality in the Service Department.
  • Accurate reporting of time on timecards or work orders.
  • Assuring parts are properly pulled and that work orders are given to the technicians with each request for parts to allow them to post the correct parts and price.
  • Assuring that all oil, lubricants, and other materials used on each job are properly charged.
  • Satisfactory and equitable resolution of customer complaints.
  • Preparation of a "needs list" on tools and equipment that is to be submitted to the Operations Manager.
  • Assuring that the Sales counter / show room has access to necessary technical information, sales display as needed.
  • Equitable scheduling of jobs to the Mechanic/Technicians.
  • Onthejob training of all shop personnel.
  • Assuring that personal industry knowledge is current to the needs of the business.
  • Enforcement of all company policies and procedures.
  • Assuring that waste products are properly disposed of.
  • Assuring the promotion and sales of service to the community.
  • Maintenance of equipment is the best possible.

Essential Duties:

The duties of the Service Writer include, but are not necessarily limited to:

  • Direct the activities of all shop personnel.
  • Communicate with customers cheerfully and knowledgeably.
  • Estimate work orders for customers and counter personnel.
  • Instruct customers in the use of equipment if needed.
  • Resolve customer complaints.
  • Maintain a work schedule for the shop.
  • Complete all work orders.
  • Order shop supplies as needed.
  • Complete and submit all warranty claims.
  • Supervise the disposal of all waste products properly.
  • Instruct and train as needed and motivate shop employees.
  • Recommend hiring, and firing of shop employees, to the
  • Operations Manager/ if not one in the same, as necessary.

REQUIREMENTS:


  • Prefer a high school diploma with at least some auto shop classes
  • Prefers above requirement plus one year of technical school specializing in mechanical and engine repair.
  • Requires experience repairing and servicing automobile and truck engines.
  • Prefers ten years' experience as above to include supervisory duties.
  • Must have the ability to understand diagnostic procedures for engine and mechanical problem as well as familiarize yourself with the equipment used by Masterwerks Tire and Auto. Stay up to date with changes in the equipment and industry. Must be willing and able to do hands on work as well as supervise.
  • The physical requirements consist of extended periods of standing, bending, and stooping, turning the head and torso, reaching grasping, bending and flexing the arms, legs, wrists, hands, and fingers. The senses of being able to see, hear, smell, taste, and have full power of speech are required. The ability to climb and balance is essential. Must be able to lift in excess of 50 pounds.
