Description

THECB is observing a hybrid telecommuting schedule with employees required to be in the office at least two (2) days per week.

We are located at the George Herbert Walker Bush building located in the capitol complex at 1801 Congress Ave. Austin, TX 78701
.

General Description:

Performs complex administrative and analytical work to create reports for internal and public audiences. Work involves administering essential data processes; analyzing data reports; logístical coordination; and ad hoc research and analysis projects. Works under general supervision with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. This position reports to the Director for Student Success.


General Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Conducts analyses and assists in preparing reports and recommendations.
  • Administers data processes that may involve data collection, management, analysis, and reporting.
  • Helps identify, recommend, and implement specific opportunities to improve the efficiency or accuracy of data processes and effectiveness/usefulness of reports or other deliverables; may also research and recommend improved methods/tools more broadly.
  • Maintains general awareness of student success issues, especially as they pertain to higher education.
  • Provides technical assistance and support to divisional staff for reporting, research, and projects.
  • Maintains the necessary level of work to carry out job responsibilities by performing essential duties and functions.
  • Performs related work as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:


  • Knowledge of core quantitative/qualitative research methods and principles.
  • Knowledge of standard and appropriate research sources and texts.
  • Knowledge of business English, grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
  • Knowledge of writing fundamentals including proofing and editing documents.
  • Skill in using personal computers, databases, and general office software, including word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software.
  • Ability to think analytically and present professional research data and reports.
  • Ability to solve problems and answer questions independently using trustworthy sources.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to effectively organize time and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality with business matters, records, and personnel information.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships both internally and externally.
  • Ability to initiate and complete tasks with moderate supervision and make decisions using appropriate professional judgment and reasoning.
  • Ability to accept and follow instructions given in a variety of forms.

Qualifications

Required Minimum Education and Experience:


  • Senior classification in a bachelor's degree program at an accredited college or university in education or social sciences, or current/upcoming enrollment in a graduate program at an accredited college or university in education or social sciences.

Preferred:


  • Experience with higher education or secondary education data.
  • Work experience in a higher education, legislative, or governmental organization
  • Knowledge of Texas public colleges and universities.

Physical Requirements and/or Working Conditions:


Work is performed in a standard office environment and requires:

  • Regular, reliable, and punctual attendance during assigned work hours;
  • Frequent use of a personal computer (to be provided by the agency) and occasional use of other office hardware (e.g., copiers, printers, telephones)
  • Frequent sitting or stationary standing;
  • Frequently work under deadlines, as a team member, and in direct contact with others.
  • The incumbent is expected to provide a reliable cell phone number or ensure accessibility via other digital means during assigned work hours.
