    The **FOOD SERVER'S** essential purpose is to conduct full fine dining service in adherence to the guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures of Rancho Bernardo Inn and JC Resorts.

    **ESSENTIAL DUTIES:**

    To understand and respond to all guest needs and requests in a timely and professional manner.

    To conduct fine dining service in a professional and friendly manner in adherence to the Avant and Veranda Service Manuals.

    To serve guests through a complex and nuanced sequence of service in adherence to departmental guidelines and service manuals. This includes, but is not limited to: greeting guests, offering and serving bread, water, guiding guests through beverage offerings and wine list, guiding guests through food menu, accurately entering items in Micros, proactively upselling additional food and beverage options, clearing plates, silverware, and glassware, re-setting plates, silverware, and glassware, promptly collecting and accurately applying payments, wishing farewell to guests.

    To follow all specified procedures to correctly handle all cash, credit, and gift certificate transactions. And to correctly use Micros Point of Sale System.

    To set up a dining space in adherence to departmental guidelines. This includes, but is not limited to: setting tables with plates, silverware, and glassware, lighting candles, leveling tables, vacuuming carpeted areas, sweeping and mopping hard surfaces, wiping down chairs and cushions.

    **JOB KNOWLEDGE & EDUCATIONAL LEVEL:** High school diploma or equivalent required. English fluency required. Must have at least three years experience in food service in a fine dining environment, including basic knowledge of food and wine service, table and seat number usage, proper coursing of food and beverage items, correct table settings, and dining room etiquette. Hotel experience preferred. Experience with Micros Point of Sale systems preferred. A valid Food Handlers Card in required.

    **SKILLS AND APTITUDES:** Detail oriented. Organized and efficient. Learns quickly. Safetyminded. High quality standards for production and service. Diplomatic and calm. Strong verbal communications skills. Courteous, friendly, and professional manner. Good team player. Customer service focus. Able to work productively with little supervision. Trustworthy and reliable.

    **WORKING CONDITIONS:** Ability to work mornings, afternoons, evenings, late nights, weekends and holidays, five shifts per week. Works approximately 35% of shift indoors and 65% outdoors. Indoors: temperature controlled, clean, adequately lighted dining room. Outdoors: exposed to weather conditions. Makes frequent trips to kitchen where air may be moist, warm, and odorous from cooking foods. Kitchen floor is uneven, and may be slippery from moisture and grease. Possible exposure to blood-borne pathogens.

    **PHYSICAL DEMANDS:** Stands and walks approximately 100 to 120 throughout shift.

    Constantly required to handle and move objects weighing up to 30 lbs. over short to moderate distances. Bends and stoops to perform routine cleaning and service tasks. Must be able to work well under pressure.
