- Patient Evaluation and Treatment:
- Conduct thorough patient evaluations, including medical history, physical examinations, and diagnostic tests.
- Order and interpret laboratory tests, imaging studies, and other diagnostic procedures as needed.
- Develop and implement evidence-based treatment plans in collaboration with supervising physicians.
- Prescribe medications and therapies within the scope of practice and in accordance with state regulations.
- Procedural Skills:
- Perform a variety of medical procedures, including but not limited to suturing, wound care, and casting/splinting.
- Assist in surgical procedures, including pre-operative preparation, intra-operative assistance, and post-operative care.
- Administer injections, immunizations, and other medical treatments as appropriate.
- Patient Education and Counseling:
- Provide education to patients and their families regarding medical conditions, treatment options, and preventive healthcare measures.
- Offer counseling on lifestyle modifications, medication adherence, and disease management strategies.
- Address patient questions and concerns, ensuring understanding and compliance with treatment plans.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated patient care.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, case conferences, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Communicate patient status, treatment plans, and follow-up recommendations clearly and accurately.
- Documentation and Recordkeeping:
- Maintain detailed and accurate medical records, including progress notes, procedures performed, and medication orders.
- Adhere to documentation standards and regulatory requirements, including HIPAA compliance.
- Ensure timely completion of medical records and documentation tasks.
Qualifications: - Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program.
- Current certification as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
- State licensure as a Physician Assistant, with the ability to practice independently or under physician supervision as required by state regulations.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working as a Physician Assistant.
- Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills, with the ability to formulate and implement effective treatment plans.
- Proficiency in performing medical procedures and interventions, with attention to patient safety and quality of care.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and continuing education.
