    Summary

    The Orlando VAMC is seeking an Assistant Chief Nurse - Designation Professional Practice Program Manager who collaborates effectively and is is responsible for supporting the integration of the professional practice model into nursing delivery across all clinical areas within the system. Require to travel up to 25% to all sites of care including OPC and CBOC.

    The Assistant Chief Nurse, Nursing Designated Professional Practice Program Manager position is located at the Lake Nona main facility and will reports to the Chief Nurse under the Associate Dir, Patient Care or designee.

    The Nursing Designated Professional Practice Program Manager This leadership role serves as a culture and change strategist to advance the practice of professional nursing and achievement of key performance indicators. The Program manager advances nursing practice by facilitating and participating in clinical advancement projects, shared decision-making, peer review, mentor development, and professional and recruitment retention strategies. As the organization's Nursing Designated Professional Practice Program Manager and survey coordinator for nursing satisfaction, and nursing sensitive quality indicators, this role collaborates with the Associate Director Patient Care Services (ADPCS) and quality analytics teams in the collection, analysis, and dissemination of nurse sensitive indicator data. The incumbent promotes the nursing profession, an expert in data analysis, attention to detail, excellent written and oral communication skills, leads through influence and supports projects/ change management.

    The ACN, Designation Professional Practice Program Manager has a global understanding of how their area(s) of responsibility supports the system's mission and vision. They are responsible and accountable for the planning, organization, and evaluation of effectiveness related to clinical, informatics, and/or administrative process changes, analyzing issues impeding change, developing corrective actions to expedite change, and assuring optimum utilization of available resources to maintain a climate conducive to quality patient care and employee satisfaction. The ACN, Designation Professional Practice Program Manager functions as a formal and informal educator; serving as a liaison between internal and external customers, supporting factors that impact customer satisfaction, considering the client population, including age and life stages, state of health, race and culture, values, and previous experiences. Ad hoc telework available at the discretion of the supervisor. Travel is required. The incumbent covers all sites of care including OPC and CBOC. Hours may vary, primarily 7:30 am - 4:00 pm.

    The Nursing Designated Professional Practice Program Manager duties include but not limited to:
  • Serves as the liaison between the organization and the ANCC Pathways to Excellence or other nursing Program Office.
  • Coordinates the assessment of nursing recognition program gap analysis and proposes action plans for identified gaps. In collaboration with facility nursing leadership develops strategies to implement the ADPCS vision and plans for attaining or retaining designation or other recognition.
  • Recommends and ensures organizational initiatives and professional nursing concepts, including Pathway to excellence standards, are integrated into orientation, shared governance, peer review, clinical advancement, Nurse Residency, preceptor and mentor, and other nursing programs.
  • Serves as administrative liaison for the facility and market nurse clinical advancement program.
  • In collaboration with the facility ADPCS, coordinates all activities related to the nursing satisfaction yearly survey.
  • Collaborates with nurse leaders to sustain and improve institutional professional nursing activities and structures. Identifies gaps in knowledge, skills, or practice and works with Education to create and implement plans to address.
  • Participates in evaluation of nursing quality data and application of evidence-based practices to improve nursing practice, patient outcomes, and patient experience data. Provides outcome data to support evaluation of educational programs.
  • Promotes professional growth of nurses by mentoring to achieve specialty certification, advanced degrees, and submit evidence-based abstracts.
  • Promotes the integration of evidence-based practice and the advancement of nursing research within the organization.
  • Influence care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team.
  • Work Schedule: Full time, Hours may vary, primarily 7:30 am - 4:00 pm.
