Food / Nutrition Science Specialist - Augusta, United States - William Barr Associates, Inc.

This is an entry level position that supports nutrition scientists in a large North American food company with analysis, management, maintenance, and reporting of food and nutrition data.

The position is in a dynamic, diverse working environment and will include the following responsibilities:

• Creating and maintaining uptodate records for food products and ingredients within various software systems and database files
• Ensuring the accuracy and consistency of food ingredient and nutrition records across all systems
• Supporting the development of the nutrition label that appears on the client's product packages and checking other's work for the same
• Mining the database for nutrition information to answer questions and prepare reports for internal customers such as regulatory affairs, scientists, product developers, legal, management, and marketing
• Mining the database for nutrition information to respond to inquiries from external bodies such as regulatory entities, institutions, business customers, and consumers
• Supporting the review / approval of various commercial assets for regulatory compliance
• Participating on a team for new product activities
• Proactively working with other departments to address issues on a timely basis
• Acting as a backup for other scientists when they are away from work

Above average proficiency in Excel and attention to detail are critical for this position.

Experience with SharePoint or other enterprise software systems is desirable.

Other experience and skill that would be beneficial, but not necessary, include knowledge of US or Canadian food labeling regulations and/or some knowledge of Spanish.
