- Conducts railcar inspections to ensure cars are in compliance.
- Performs repairs as necessary while always using current repair procedures.
- Meets the expectations and requirements of all customers to ensure we deliver an exceptional customer experience.
- Ensures all necessary invoicing, inspection, and work order information is accurate and complete.
- Has the ability to pass any required NDT disciplines and function specific certifications, which may include tank car welding, and demonstrates strong familiarity with AAR rules and regulations.
- Actively participates in safety assessments and equipment inspections.
- Ability to work within confined spaces and from elevated heights as required to perform work.
- Able to perform confined space monitoring and create hot work permits.
- Follows all safety rules and practices.
- May be involved in safety committees or initiatives.
- May be required to have a valid driver's license and good driving record.
- Understand and complete all basic required on-board training in regard to safety and quality.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Minimum of 1.5 years' experience in railcar maintenance or manufacturing or proficient in one or more of the following disciplines:Air Brake Testing, Welding, Gasket Valves and Fasteners, BLTII, PTII, VTII, Qualified Coating Applicator, Qualified Coating Inspector, Qualified Abrasive Blaster or other qualifications as applicable.
- Ability to learn all major railcar components and basic functions.
- Performs outlined work under supervision of site or crew leader.
- Ability to understand Field Manual of the AAR Interchange rules.
- Ability to use hand tools such as hammers, torches, wrenches, hydraulic jacks, pneumatic tools, and others as required.
- Basic understanding of how to read engineered drawings.
- May be required to mentor/train lower-level technicians.
- Will be required to operate and maintain a TrinityRail Mobile Repair Truck, with some trucks requiring a DOT regulated driver.
- Must meet DOT requirements to operate CMVs less than 26k GVWR.
- Any type of welding/Valve/mechanical experience or railcar knowledgeis preferred.
- Possess a current valid driver's license and good driving record.
