    Job Description:

    SCOPE:

    The Oncology Nurse Navigator serves as an expert oncology population specific clinician, patient/client advocate and assists cancer/oncology patients/families to navigate the complex health care system in an organized, effective and efficient manner.

    This position will assist with the standardization and efficiency of care for patients in the cancer service line throughout the continuum of patient care.

    The Oncology Nurse Navigator models patient-centered care and assumes leadership responsibilities with high level contributions in direct patient interaction, the department, the service line, and across the institution.


    FUNCTIONS:

    • Focuses on patient/customer safety
    • Delivers personalized service using MBPCC Service Standards
    • Provides for exceptional patient/customer experiences
    • Intentionally communicates and engages patients/customers to ensure their needs are being met.
    • Advocates for patients and their families in overcoming healthcare system constraints by facilitating needs, education, resource provision and/or representation within the multi-disciplinary care environment

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Associate's degree in nursing required, BSN preferred
    • Active RN license in the state of LA required
    • Active BLS CPR required
    • 1-3 years overall nursing experience required, 3+ years preferred
    • 1 year oncology nursing experience required
    • Experience as a nurse navigator, and/or patient educator in oncology highly preferred
    • Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) or Navigation Certification highly preferred
