Flexible working hours- Summer based opportunity
This position acts as an intermediary between a client and the company to broker freight, and book loads with carries while maximizing profit margins. Provides day to day customer service and logistics support for Transplace clients including but not limited to routing of Truckload, International and LTL shipments.
**ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND TASKS**
Responsible for executing day-to-day tasks involved with booking of freight to include reviewing and selecting carriers, providing rate quotes, and presenting evidence of current marketplace rates for justification, if needed.
Serve as initial point of contact to receive and handle issues regarding service, rates, schedules, etc.
Build positive day-to-day relationships with current and new clients.
Provide weekly and monthly reports to appropriate management.
Perform other duties as directed or assigned.
Manage load postings.
Handle appointment requests for shipments.
Provide load status updates to brokers and customers.
Communication with customer and carriers via phone, email and instant message.
Responsible for routing and tracking shipments.
Coordinate transportation pick-ups.
Tracking and updating in the TMS system.
Facilitate routing decisions made by customer or preset by customers client.
Communicate shipment information regarding route changes, delays, or early deliveries to appropriate internal and external customers as needed.
Provide reports to internal and external customers as required.
Provide rate quotes as needed.
Maintain accurate tracking/documentation in computer system.
Perform administrative duties to include but not limited to photocopying, faxing, mailing, emailing, filing, scheduling, making and receiving phone calls.
Perform other duties as directed or assigned.
**SKILLS**
Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment.
Demonstrates a high level of customer service and strong communication and interpersonal skills (both listening and speaking).
Demonstrates strong organizational skills (record keeping, time management, follow up, etc.)
Excellent attention to detail and sense of urgency, ability to prioritize with an emphasis on quality of work.
Basic knowledge of MS Office Suite or Windows based software required.
**EXPERIENCE**
Prefer one year previous transportation industry experience.
**EDUCATION**
Requires a High School diploma or GED equivalent.
Associates Degree or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience.
