What you'll do:


Responsibilities/Duties:


  • Scanning of all clinical paperwork into practice EMR and also use electronic signature for specific testing as determined by practice. Scan all patient related documents into EMR as directed by practice protocol. Answer telephone, assist patients in retrieving copies of Medical Records and work with document management company to process requests. Communicate with attorneys, insurance companies and Nurse Case Managers regarding patient work status and degree of disability. Abide by NYS and Federal Law in processing records requests and follow all office protocol and policies as established by the practice.
  • Research and retrieve paper charts from storage facility when needed. Scan paper charts as they are retrieved from storage facility to eliminate future storage cost. Research old charts for destruction in accordance with practice policies.
  • Assist Billing Department by attaching corresponding documentation to invoices for Workers' Compensation and No Fault Claims and mailing them in a timely manner to ensure payment.
  • Research and process all FMLA and Disability Forms submitted by patients. Communicate with providers for missing information.
  • Assist when necessary in correspondence and meetings with Attorneys, including scheduling depositions, testimonies, video depositions, and processing subpoenas.
  • General clerical duties include copying, faxing, mailing, and distributing correspondence letters to appropriate personnel. Errands as assigned on a rotational basis, such as but not limited to bank run, order lunches for providers working in the Poughkeepsie location, stamp outgoing mail, as well as, sort and deliver the incoming mail.
  • Rotate the position at the HIM Advocate Window in the Poughkeepsie office.
  • Retrieve report from multiple hospital websites and inform our providers when hospital charts need to be signed.
  • Retrieve reports for all imaging studies performed at OADC from the radiologists website
  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that promotes teamwork and professionalism with coworkers, patients, physicians and management.
  • Any and all other duties as assigned by the director of operations

Who you are:


Qualifications:


  • Experience in a Medical Office desired. Computer experience desired.
  • High school diploma or equivalent and/or ability to read and write proficiently
