GENERAL SUMMARY
Responsibility to function as a

Material Handler:
Ensure that the employee handbook is being followed, follow all TS 16949 and ISO 14001 Instructions. Ensures adherence to PPE policy and 5s principles.

Ensures the supply of materials remain continuous so production process is not halted and the demands of our customers are met.

Supports production demand requirements, assures priorities are in line with production and distribution requirements. Understand the functional aspects of inventory control using the Plex system.

Motivating and mentoring team to support their ongoing development, striving to achieve targets set, and encourage processes to identify and implement improvement opportunities.


PRINCIPLE DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL ELEMENTS OF THE JOB

Safety:


  • Consistently demonstrates and incorporates principals of safety for self and others in daily activities.
  • Report all incidents/accidents
  • Ensures the use of safe procedures and standard work
  • Inspect equipment and verify forklift is operational and in good working order
  • Understand lockout tagout procedures for all grinders

Quality/Customer Focus:


  • Perform visual check to verify label matches contents
  • Review bill of material to ensure correct materials are supplied to operators
  • Containments of all nonconforming material
  • Verify all parts are inside containers before stacking
  • Distribute in first in first out order (FIFO)
  • Verify containers are in good condition and able to contain parts without damaging

Daily Routine:


  • Transition meeting with outgoing/incoming material handler
  • Review and understand Plex
  • Respond to operator call lights
  • Understand label representation for picking up and distributing finish good product on production floor
  • Control of contaminated material and move location of material to proper location
  • Ensure all raw materials is labeled, and moved to the appropriate location and updated in Plex
  • Maintain and adjust inventory of regrind and contaminated materials daily, reporting any problems or issues to Warehouse supervisor.
  • Understands functional aspects of hopper, mixing rooms, grinders and silos
  • Handle material problems with all material conveying systems to include, mixing room, grinders, silo hoppers and all piping used for material, such as plugged grinders, hoses and filters.
  • Clean hoppers and grinders during a job change or color change
  • Responsible for proper disposal of generated trash, corrugates waste, and recycled material
  • Maintain 2 hours of components and packaging at press for oncoming shift
  • Provide break relief when necessary
  • Assist other material handlers when time permits
  • Initiate and promote continuous improvement project
  • Ensure correct packaging is used according to Plex
  • Ensure all components, including defective, are properly labeled and stored/disposed and Plex is updated
  • Workcenter line clearance: components, documentation, etc.
  • Monitor and promote safe work practices
  • Promote and enforce a clean and organized work environment guided by the 5s principles
  • Understand problem solving and escalation process
  • Lead and participate in improvements and initiatives
  • Support ongoing improvement activities

EDUCATION / SKILLS / EXPERIENCE

Education/Experience:


  • High school graduate, or general education degree (GED)
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, and procedure manual
  • Preferred computer knowledge
  • Preferred forklift knowledge
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Team player/good attitude

Physical Requirement:


  • Must be able to physically perform the basic life operation functions of climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motion. Must posses the visual alertness to operate equipment and motor vehicles, perform trades, tasks, inspect the work of others, and review work for accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness.
