- Serves as Senior Counsel, under direction of Deputy Chief Counsel and Chief Counsel.
- Provides legal advice and counsel to the Director, Deputy Directors and Chief Counsel.
- Advises on legal matters pertaining to the Office of Workforce Development (OWD), Office of Information Services (OIS), Governor's Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives (GOFBCI) and Bureau of State Hearings (BSH)
- Provides legal advice to assigned offices on public records and confidentiality matters and serves as the legal liaison on matters between assigned offices and the Attorney General's Office (AGO).
- Provides legal counsel to the Office of Contracts and Acquisitions (OCA) and Office of the Chief Data and Analytics Officer (OCDAO) by preparing contracts, grant agreements, data sharing agreements, memorandums of understandings and inter-agency agreements;
- As part of contract-related duties, conducts negotiations on behalf of the Department and drafts research memorandum and guidance on matters pertaining to contracts and data sharing.
- Drafts contracts or otherwise reviews and approves work product of contract drafting staff; provides feedback in the preparation of various kinds of contracts and data sharing agreements.
- Liaises with OCA, OCDAO and program areas regarding specific contract related needs (e.g. data to be shared, goods and services to be purchased, compensation structure, budget, and corrections or amendments); completes input and tracking of contracts and contract related documents into the Department's databases.

What You'll Do
Under the supervision of Deputy Chief Counsel, provides legal counsel for the Office of Legal and Acquisitions Services (OLAS) by supporting Deputy Chief Counsels and Chief Legal Counsel in legal and contract matters of the Department.
You will serve as legal counsel to the Office of Workforce Development (OWD), Office of Information Services (OIS), Governor's Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives (GOFBCI) and Bureau of State Hearings (BSH).
You will also support, as legal counsel, the Office of Contracts and Acquisitions (OCA) and the Office of the Chief Data and Analytics Officer (OCDAO)Schedule:
Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm; Hybrid Schedule
Travel:
Travel required, as needed. Must provide own transportation or, in order to operate a state vehicle, you must have a valid driver's license.
PN(s):
The ideal candidate, at minimum, must have the following:
Admission to Ohio Bar pursuant to Section of Revised Code;
AND
18 mos. exp. as licensed attorney;
AND
6 mos. exp. in supervisory principles/techniques.

Pay Information
This position is in the State of Ohio's E1 Pay Schedule, Pay Range 15 Unless required by legislation or union contract, starting salary will be the minimum salary of that pay range (step 1, currently $39.27 per hour).
