Description

The Fraunhofer Institute for Structural Durability and System Reliability LBF in Darmstadt collaborates with industry and research at a national and international level.

The institute's main focus is on research in the areas of structural durability, system reliability, smart structures, and plastics.

The Valdiation Wheel-Related Compontens group, part of the Assemblies and Systems department, conducts projects related to experimental service life evaluation and numerical service life prediction of wheel heads.

This includes verifying the fatigue strength of wheel bearings, hubs, and components through operating load simulations using biaxial wheel testing technology.

The group also identifies potential weak points and over dimensioning.

The load assumptions used in these simulations are also used for development-accompanying numerical service life forecasts to optimize product design.

We are currently seeking a Research Associate for biaxial wheel/hub testing technology to join our Valdiation Wheel-Related Compontens group as soon as possible.

  • Conduct scientific research and development projects in collaboration with partners from the private and public sectors
  • Develop, validate, and implement scientific methods, procedures, and tools for biaxial wheel/hub testing technology
  • Plan projects and prepare proposals and offers for new projects
  • Publish and present research results in journals and at national and international conferences and conventions
  • Supervise student assistants and their theses to support the next generation of scientists
