What do PROCESS TECHNOLOGISTS METAL actually do at Catalpa Canyon?

As a process technologist for metal, you will learn about the metallurgical processes used to produce iron, steel, and non-ferrous metals.

Through analyzing the raw materials and alloying agents, you will calculate the required composition for each material.

You will also gain knowledge in operating monitoring and measuring equipment, as well as in pneumatics, hydraulics, and electrical engineering.

Some of your tasks and responsibilities will include filling the furnace and melting steel at temperatures up to 1680 °C. You will monitor the entire melting process, take temperature measurements, and extract samples from the liquid steel to analyze them using a spark emission spectrometer.
