    Position: Communication Specialist

    Location: Nashville, TN (Hybrid)

    Duration: 24 Months, Likely to extend

    Pay Rate: $36-40/hour

    Job Description:

    • We are currently seeking a Communication Specialist for the Tobacco Prevention & Control, Tennessee Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Education and Support (TCAPES), and Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome (NAS) Surveillance programs.
    • This role will lead content creation and community engagement initiatives and drive impactful communication plans aligned with program goals. The ideal candidate is passionate about health and skilled in dynamic communication.
    1. Content Creation: You'll be responsible for generating various forms of content, ranging from written articles and blog posts to multimedia materials such as videos, infographics, and social media graphics. Your content should be informative, persuasive, and tailored to diverse audiences, including healthcare professionals, policymakers, community stakeholders, and the general public.
    2. Community Engagement Initiatives: Building relationships and fostering collaboration within the community is crucial for the success of these programs. You'll develop and implement initiatives to actively engage with key stakeholders, including organizing events, workshops, webinars, and focus groups. These efforts aim to cultivate a sense of ownership and involvement among community members in addressing tobacco use, child and adolescent psychiatry education, and neonatal abstinence syndrome.
    3. Communication Planning: You'll lead the development and execution of comprehensive communication plans aligned with the goals and objectives of each program. This involves conducting research to understand the target audience, identifying communication channels and platforms, setting clear messaging strategies, and establishing metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of communication efforts.
    4. Strategic Alignment: Collaboration with program leaders and stakeholders is essential to ensure that communication initiatives are closely aligned with program priorities and objectives. You'll work closely with program managers to integrate communication strategies into overall program planning and implementation, contributing to the achievement of programmatic goals.
    5. Passion for Health: A deep-seated passion for public health and a genuine commitment to making a positive impact on the well-being of individuals and communities are foundational to this role. Your enthusiasm for promoting tobacco prevention, child and adolescent mental health education, and combating neonatal abstinence syndrome will drive your efforts to effectively communicate key messages and drive change.
    6. Dynamic Communication Skills: As a skilled communicator, you'll possess the ability to convey complex information in clear and accessible ways. Whether you're drafting a press release, delivering a presentation, or engaging with stakeholders on social media, your communication style should be adaptable and engaging, resonating with diverse audiences across different platforms.
