Customs Entry Writer - New York, United States - Pegasus Shipping Inc

Description

• Prepare Customs Documentation and entry filing, i.e Classification (both HTS and FDA product coding and entry key in)
• Responsible for checking availability and following up with carriers, terminals, truckers, to coordinate and resolve any possible issues that may occur.
• Responsible for following up with Government agencies to resolve any issues (Mainly the following government agencies but not limited to: Customs, CBP Agriculture, FDA)
• Negotiate with carriers and/or terminals for demurrage/detention resolution issues
• Provide excellent customer service and provide customers with timely updates for their status of their shipments (Customs, freight releases, FDA updates, etc)
• Perform billing for files timely

• Experience with Customs Clearance and import knowledge with emphasis on Foodstuffs
• Have a strong background with handling of FDA food related imports
• Must have knowledge for Ocean/Air/Rail imports
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to handle time sensitive shipments, i.e Reefer container shipments with very limited free time at the port
• Ability to work independently and resolve issues as needed
• Must be able to work well with office personnel including sales and logistics departments
• Ability to prioritize and multitask
