Position Summary:

Participates in the installation, trouble-shooting, and repair of residential and commercial electrical appliances, equipment, and systems.


Essential Functions:


  • Eliminate callbacks and reduce liability by ensuring that all work is performed safely and accurately.
  • Promote good customer relations through neat appearance and timely, safe and courteous service.
  • Maintain neat and orderly service vehicle. Ensure that all tools and equipment are in safe operating condition.
  • Accurately and timely record and report parts and labor for service calls in accordance with company procedures. Maintain and track parts inventories in service vehicle.
  • Participate in night and weekend oncall schedule as necessary.
  • Promote the sale of company products and services.
  • Report all accidents and liability claims.

Other Tasks:


  • Performs other workrelated duties as assigned.

Education:

A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred. Technical school training is preferred.


Contacts:


Technicians frequently deal with customers, other employees (dispatchers, other technicians, drivers, and office personnel) and equipment and parts supply vendors.


Experience:

An Electrician will likely have one or more years of previous electrical experience.


Certification and Testing:

Electricians must have a Maine State electrical license (journeyman or master). All technicians must be able to pass a pre-employment physical.


Equipment Used:


All types of hand tools, testing equipment, power tools (drills, electric hammers, sawzall, etc), along with appropriate gauges and meters.

The Electrician must possess and maintain all personal hand tools.


Decisions Made:

Electricians make decisions regarding the appropriate steps to take in servicing or installing electrical systems and equipment. Complex problems or unusual customer related issues are referred to the Electrical Supervisor.


Safety Considerations:


Safety considerations relate to safe operation of the service vehicle, wearing appropriate personal protective safety equipment, proper lifting of heavy parts or equipment, and general observation of the surroundings where work is being done.

This position requires dependability, commitment to exceptional customer service, ability to work independently, and the desire to work as part of a team.


Work Environment:

Temperatures can vary from below zero to above 90 degrees, depending on the time of year. The work area is occasionally cramped with little head room and can be clean to very dirty.


Physical Requirements Analysis:


  • The position requires frequent standing, walking, and sitting
  • There is occasional to frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, climbing
  • There is frequent use of the fingers/hands/arms to reach, feel, handle, lift or pull
  • There is frequent communication involving both talking and listening

Weight or Force Moved:

Electricians move various sized objects weighing from a few ounces to over 100 pounds.

When very heavy objects are moved employees are encouraged to seek assistance from other employees to safely move the object.
