DESCRIPTION:


The Assistant Director of Compliance and Systems serves the International Services & Engagement Office (ISEO) in overseeing all compliance requirements for international student and scholar operations for the institution and is also responsible for the smooth operation of systems supporting the unit's work.


The Assistant Director will supervise a team of compliance coordinators and will lead work groups of compliance coordinators and advisors in meeting the regulatory compliance requirements for the F, J, and employment-based visa classifications, to include SEVIS reporting, public access files for Labor Condition Applications (LCAs), and hard waiver health insurance processes for Exchange Visitors (EVs).

Incumbent will also support the smooth functioning of unit systems (e.g., ISSM, Sunapsis, Service Now, etc.) by monitoring and troubleshooting problems, liaising with ITS for upgrades, hotfixes, etc., working with unit teams to improve system efficiencies, and outreach to campus partner end users for input on system functionalities.

The Assistant Director may also perform duties of a DSO/ARO such as 1) advising students and scholars, academic departments, and campus units, 2) determining student and scholar eligibility for immigration benefits, and 3) analyzing requests and ensuring issuance of appropriate visa documents.


QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Bachelor's degree in education or related field and 1 2 years of experience related to working in a student or scholar advising environment or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of complex immigration regulations for F, J and employment
  • Ability to work with a diverse population at all levels of the organization including faculty, staff, senior management, students, and representatives from external organizations with proven ability to work as part of a cohesive team with coworkers and clients. Proven sensitivity to cultural differences and communication with persons who speak English as a second language. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations and language proficiency levels.
  • Validated level of professionalism in providing administrative support, exercise independent judgment, discretion, initiative, tact and diplomacy in managing highly sensitive matters while maintaining strict confidentiality.
  • Advanced project management skills.
  • Demonstrated data management experience. Proven skill in collecting and reporting within multiple database/information systems. Ability to develop and maintain precise organized records, files, and filing systems, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to multitask with demanding timeframes. ** Proven ability to work independently in a fastpaced, multipurpose operation. Ability to carry out work under the pressure of a highvolume workload, frequent interruptions, deadlines, and changing priorities.
  • Advanced knowledge of applicable policy analysis techniques.
  • Established skill to independentlyfollow through, problem solve, complete assignments given on a project basis, and to meet established deadlines. Ability to organize and prioritize daily operations, periodic reports, short and longterm projects and to ensure timeliness and accuracy.
  • Demonstrated writing skills, including web content; able to formulate and present written material in a logical and comprehensive manner; prepare, and present non
- standard reports. Excellent general research, comprehension, and analytical skills to identify appropriate resources and understand and interrupt complex data, professional materials and documents.

  • Demonstrated ability to supervise professional staff, fostering innovation, service, and accountability. Excellent ability to delegate and assign tasks, monitor production and quality of work, set clear and reasonable performance standards, and develop staff to their highest potential.
  • Demonstrated experience in motivating and leading staff with proficiency to instruct, train and direct the work of others through clear instructions and guidelines; analyzing workflow and capabilities and aptitude in determining optimal staff configurations to meet operational and service needs adjusting direction appropriately as required.
