Job Summary:


As a Social Worker at the Southern Arizona VA Health Care System, you will play a pivotal role in providing comprehensive care and support to our nation's veterans.

Social workers are integral members of multidisciplinary teams, serving as advocates, counselors, and coordinators to ensure veterans receive the holistic care they deserve.

Schedule: 40 hours per week depending on the FTEE and clinic location.


Primary Responsibilities:

Case Management and Treatment Planning:

Social workers are often the linchpin in treatment planning, pulling together various aspects of care and leading linkage and referral processes with community partners.

You will work closely with veterans to assess their needs, develop comprehensive treatment plans, and coordinate services to address physical, mental, and social well-being.


Engagement with Veterans' Groups and Organizations:
Actively engage with veterans' groups and organizations to strengthen services and support networks for veterans.

Your contributions in building partnerships and fostering community engagement are valued and necessary for enhancing veterans' access to care and resources.


Program Management:

Social workers can be found managing various programs within the VA system, including but not limited to Spinal Cord Injuries and Disease, Mental Health, Outpatient and Inpatient Medical/Surgery, Emergency Department, Long Term Care, Visual Impairments, Polytrauma Rehabilitation, Palliative Care, Therapeutic and Supportive Employment, Homeless Services, Suicide Prevention, Veterans Justice Outreach, Medical and Residential Foster Homes, Home Based Primary Care, and Caregiver Support Program.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Social Work from an accredited institution.
  • Must possess a full, current, and unrestricted license and/or certification in any State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States or the District of Columbia.
  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or equivalent licensure/certification.
  • Experience working with diverse populations, preferably veterans.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams.
  • Commitment to serving veterans with compassion, respect, and integrity.
