Work Schedule:
Normal hours are 8am to 4:30pm. Needs to be available to dispatch to outages outside working hours, weekends and holidays
Overall Responsibilities:
As a Construction and Maintenance Technician, you will build, troubleshoot, upgrade, and maintain our network.
Every building is different so you'll bring a diverse skill set, exercise solid judgment, and collaborate well as a team.
Role responsibilities include installing and testing copper and fiber cabling and associated peripherals, making required cross connects, installing radio mounts, pointing microwave point-to-point radios and performing installation/construction duties, maintenance and troubleshooting and after hours emergency response.
Top Daily Responsibilities:
- Assist with construction buildout, including pulling cable, installing conduit, installing microwave pointtopoint radios, and installing backbone fiber networks.
- Conduct building maintenance, including replacing outdated equipment, upgrading the network, and ensuring that building equipment is installed to our standards.
- Be on call to assist with network outages outside working hours, weekends and holidays.
- Pull, terminate, and test ethernet, make required cross connects.
- May perform residential inhome customer installation work as needed.
- Maintain regular communication with local and central teams to provide updates on projects as needed.
Mandatory Skills/Qualifications:
- 1+ year pulling, terminating and testing twisted pair, coax and fiber optics cabling in residential and commercial environments.
Reliable transportation and Valid driver's license with a clean driving history:
- Knowledge of the physical layer, 66 blocks, 110 blocks, patch panels
- Excellent time management skills.
- Physical requirements: Must be able to lift 60 lbs and be ok with standing for long periods and comfortable working in different positions such as kneeling, crouching, and stooping
- Familiar with industry tools and equipment
- Must be willing to work day, evening or night hours; overtime, emergency oncall rotation, weekends and holidays as required. Must be reliable and punctual.
- Must be willing to drive personal vehicle during and outside regular working hours to complete maintenance projects or respond to outages (mileage compensation provided).
- Able to work up to 8 hrs per day, in various weather conditions.
Non-Essential Skills/Qualifications:
- Technical school or technical training like BISCI.
- Knowledge of fiber optic cabling, fusion splicing, and similar.
- Understanding of mmWave radio installation and maintenance.
- Advanced troubleshooting skills related to routers, switches and hubs, and streaming devices.
- Fiber OSP installation experience
