Summary:
- Cleans services and keeps in an aseptic and orderly state, assigned hospital areas, including patient rooms, office areas, treatment and utility areas, nurses stations, conference rooms, waiting rooms, public and private bathrooms, hallways, stairways, corridors, etc.
Responsibilities:
- Cleans assigned areas with hospital approved germicidal detergent, supplies and equipment.
- Cleans, sweeps, dusts, mops, buffs, scrubs and strips floors.
- Washes walls, light fixtures, sills, banisters, baseboards, door, etc. in rooms, offices and elevators.
- Polishes brass and stainless as required.
- Reports and malfunctions in mechanical equipment, i.e., beds, lights, etc., and any broken or scratched walls, doors, or furniture to supervisor.
- Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with patients, visitors and all levels of hospital personnel.
- Shows courtesy, compassion, sensitivity and respect.
- Moves furniture. Pushes or pulls loaded or empty carts.
- Collects and disposes of trash; cleans and disinfect trash receptacles.
- Damp dusts furniture; applies stain type polish and hand buffs furniture; arranges furniture in predetermined manner.
- Cleans and makes up unoccupied beds as necessary.
- Cleans and disinfects bathrooms, including sinks, bathtubs, showers, toilets, bathroom tile, etc. polished chrome fixtures replaces supplies of soap, towels, toilet tissue, etc.
- Cleans and disinfects isolation rooms, including ceilings, lights, walls, floors, furniture and entire bathrooms; collects isolation linen and/or trash.
- Maintains equipment at an acceptable level of cleanliness to include maintenance of janitorial cart and/or janitorial closet.
- Uses effective interpersonal skills in all interactions.
- Performs duties and exhibits behaviors consistent with care philosophy of Pennsylvania Hospital.
Credentials:
Education or Equivalent Experience:
- H.S. Diploma/GED (required)
- 01 years Relevant experience
