    Middle School Mathematics Educator

    We are looking for a dedicated Math teacher to join our team as a full-time middle school math educator and advisor. The ideal candidate will have a passion for teaching students in grades 5-8, possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, be a collaborative team member, and be adept at integrating math with technology, science, and other subjects. Prior experience in science and technology is a valuable asset. Candidates should be comfortable with both in-person and virtual teaching methods.

    It is crucial for the candidate to inspire students to love learning and to foster a deep understanding of mathematical concepts. Additionally, the candidate should encourage creative problem-solving, critical thinking, and advanced mathematical reasoning skills. Familiarity with the Mathematical Standards and experience with planning using Understanding by Design are desirable.

    This role includes serving as an Advisor in one of the middle school advisory teams. Our Advisory program focuses on enhancing students' social and emotional well-being, both inside and outside the classroom, while promoting meaningful service learning opportunities. Knowledge of Responsive Classroom approach is a plus.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Teach mathematics to middle school students with a focus on supporting learners of all levels
    • Collaborate with the math team to develop and implement curriculum
    • Assess student progress using formative and summative evaluations
    • Provide constructive feedback to facilitate student development
    • Participate in advisory team activities to create a supportive environment
    • Guide and support a group of middle school students academically and emotionally
    • Communicate effectively with parents and team members
    • Facilitate service learning initiatives through the advisory program

    Requirements & Skills:

    • Bachelor's or master's degree in mathematics, math education, education with math focus, or related field
    • Preferred 5+ years of math teaching experience
    • Experience working with middle school students and knowledge of adolescent development
    • Background in developing math curriculum
    • Ability to teach executive functioning and learning habits for student success
    • Proficiency in educational technologies such as Google Apps, iPad, Zoom, and Chromebook
