Department Summary:

The UCLA International Institute educates students, supports scholarship on the world at UCLA and serves as a campus and community resource.

With a history dating back to 1958, the Institute is the central hub for global and area studies on campus.

Its more than 27 centers and programs support innovative multidisciplinary research on specific world regions and pressing global issues.

Its rigorous academic programs offer degrees in global studies, international development, global health, international migration and diverse regions and countries of the world.

The UCLA International Institute is directed by a senior management team led by the Vice Provost for International Studies and Global Engagement, two Associate Vice Provosts and two Assistant Vice Provosts.

The Office of the Vice Provost develops and implements UCLA's global strategy, manages the university's partnership agreements with foreign educational and research institutions, and represents UCLA to international constituencies and organizations.


Position Summary:


The UCLA International Institute operates an extraordinarily complex program as it educates students, supports scholarship on the world at UCLA and serves as a campus and community resource.

The Institute is the central hub for global and area studies on campus with more than 25 centers, Institutes and programs supporting innovative multidisciplinary research on specific world regions and pressing global issues.

Salary & Compensation:
*UCLA provides a full pay range. Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. Salary offers at the top of the range are not common. Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated skill in financial planning, analysis, and managing multimilliondollar budgets with multiple funding sources. (required)
  • Demonstrated analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills. (required)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of contract and grant policies and procedures and extramural fund requirements applicable to federal and state funding at a major research university. (required)
  • Demonstrated ability to create and present financial reports to management, faculty P.I.s, and others. (required)
  • Ability to correlate available fiscal resources with programmatic needs, establish priorities, and make appropriate recommendations for allocations. (required)
  • Skill in organizing materials and information, designing and implementing policies, guidelines, and office systems, and maintaining records. (required)
  • Ability to provide consultative assistance to organizational faculty and staff on issues related to both intramural and extramural fund budgets. (required)
  • Demonstrated ability to work proficiently in Microsoft Excel, Word, (COGNOS, preferred) (required)
  • Ability to coordinate multiple tasks with competing deadlines and follow
- through on assignments with mínimal supervision. (required)

  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills to work diplomatically, cooperatively, and constructively with coworkers, faculty P.I.s, department managers and campus administrators. (required)
  • Working knowledge of university administrative policies, procedures, and research resources preferred. (required)
  • Ability to work with frequent interruptions or to shift from one task to another without loss or efficiency and to maintain excellent recall of detail. (required)

Education, Licenses, Certifications, & Professional Affiliations:

  • Bachelor's Degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training (required)
