Job Summary:


The Product Design and Packaging Department (PDP) within Raytheon is in search of a Section Leader with experience in electrical parts management and obsolescence to join our team in Tucson, AZ.


PDP is the internal customer-facing organization for internal design activities and provides the expertise that optimizes electronic hardware designs for producibility, provides electrical circuit design, strategic procurement relationships, and assembly services through project leadership to achieve cycle time, technology, and cost goals.

The Section Leader would be expected to lead a section of approximately 15-18 multi-functional engineers across multiple disciplines.


Responsibilities to Anticipate:


  • Involvement in gate and design reviews.
  • Performance management and career development activities.
  • Support hiring efforts (resume reviews, interviews, etc.).
  • Support and / or drive department initiatives and goals.
  • Effective and efficient program execution to reduce risk/cost through engagement with program IPTs.
  • Be an active participant on the functional leadership team supporting business activities within the Electrical Products team at Raytheon.

Basic Qualifications**:


  • Typically requires a bachelor's degree in electrical, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering, Material Science, Mathematics, or other related disciplines.
  • Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of related work experience to include any combination of the following:
  • BOM development, and obsolescence management experience.
  • Leadership and management training and experience.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications**:


  • Capable of collaborating with others to develop the vision for the PDP section in Tucson and communicating this vision effectively with functional and program leaders, as well as the section.
  • Communication skills necessary to support regular Government Customer interactions, including the Missile Defense Agency, Navy, Army, and Air Force, responding to and/or submitting proposals, contract negotiations, and general status meetings.
  • Understanding of PCB design, manufacturing and assembly.
  • Previous work history of achieving alignment and collaboration between various disciplines in order to achieve organizational and programmatic objectives.
  • Experience and understanding of IPC and MIL specifications and design guides.
  • Knowledge of component failure modes by commodity (ex. due to moisture, aging, radiation exposure, etc.).
  • Knowledge of Component MIL drawings, standards, test specifications, and associated QPLs and QMLs.
  • Project Management (schedules, financial, resources).
  • Database Management (BOMs, CROMA, cPDM, EDM, eCIMS, MS Access).
  • Working knowledge of PRISM / Kinaxis.
  • Be able to work on complex technical problems and facilitate innovative solutions.
  • Be able to guide the successful completion of major activities and functions in a project leadership role.
  • Additional background in supply chain management, operations, quality, reliability, and program management.
