The Opportunity:


The Senior/Master Instrument Technician will be accountable for utilizing their skills and experience to achieve the safe and accurate completion of tasks on their assigned shift in support of plant operations.

Perform calibrations, diagnostics, and maintenance of industrial process control instruments or systems, laboratory instruments and analyzers, and support utilities in a cGMP/cGXP environment, while minimizing instrumentation and equipment downtime, ensuring that manufacturing operations and functional support departments are enabled to successfully make, assess and release Genentech drug products 24/7.


What you will do:


  • Represent Instrument Services on multidisciplinary project teams and make presentations as required
  • Installation, calibration, troubleshooting, and modification of process control instruments or systems, laboratory instruments and analyzers, and support utilities
  • Programming/configuration of microprocessorbased equipment (PLCs, DCS, _smart _devices, etc.)
  • Assistance with systems startup and validation
  • Collection and organization of technical data from equipment manufacturers, equipment users, and engineering personnel
  • Assistance with identification, purchase, and organization of spare parts
  • Demonstrated proficiency in monitoring, trending, and analyzing data to make corrections or recommendations
  • Lead and train lowerlevel craftspeople in skills necessary to become proficient.

Who you are:


  • High School Diploma or GED and one of the following:
  • Completion of an Instrumentation or Industrial Electronics (2-year) curriculum at a technical school with 3-6 years of experience as an instrument or electronics technician
  • AA/AS Degree in a related science or engineering major with 36 years experience as an instrument or electronics technician
  • Completion of equivalent military training with 36 years experience as an instrument or electronics technician
  • 5 years in manufacturing process instrumentation and control and/or analytical instrumentation or a closely related job
  • Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, engineering documents, and schematics
  • Thorough knowledge of ISA standards and practices for instrumentation
  • Experience with SAP and Blue Mountain RAM would be preferable.

Work Environment/Physical Demands/Safety Considerations

  • Schedule may include shift work (12 hour shifts), one weekend day, evening or night hours, or full offshift hours.
  • Expected to be on feet for 8 to 10 hours a day.
  • Climb upwards of 6 flights of stairs a day to maneuver within the manufacturing facility.
  • Climb heights up to 30 feet by ladder.
  • Lift up to 50lbs may be required.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of California is $40/hour - $55/hour. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
