Function:

The Program Manager is responsible for managing and overseeing the Community Food Bank (CFB) programs by collaborating with internal and external partners and agencies of the CFB to support current solutions for addressing hunger and food insecurity.

They will establish partnerships and expand initiatives with external partners and agencies to amplify the reach and impact of community programs.

They will be responsible for collaborating with the Associate Director in program budgeting to ensure resource allocation and cost effectiveness is achieved.***
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Manages and oversees community programs, ensuring effective planning, implementation, and coordination to meet the needs of the community.
  • Manage initiatives and projects focused on eliminating hunger and food insecurity.
  • Collaborates with external partners and agencies to expand the reach and impact of the community programs, identifying opportunities for mutually beneficial partnerships
  • Develops and implements strategic plans for community programs to align with organizational goals and community needs.
  • Leads efforts to support team members in their professional development, providing mentorship and opportunities for skill enhancement.
  • Sets a precedent by fostering a workplace culture that embraces diversity, equity, and collaboration through personal example.
  • Collaborates with Associate Director to oversee and maintain program budgets, ensuring optimal resource allocations and cost effectiveness.
  • Collaborates with Associate Director to create and implement program goals, initiatives and outcome measures.
  • Develops and maintains a comprehensive data tracking system to measure the effectiveness of community programs, providing regular reports and insights to inform decision making.
  • Leads community outreach initiatives to raise awareness about available programs and resources, fostering greater community engagement and participation.
  • Spearheads initiatives to continuously improve program efficiency and effectiveness, leveraging technology and best practices in the field.
  • Represents CFB at community meetings and events as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Knowledge of managing and overseeing community programs.
  • Knowledge of achieving organizational and program objectives.

  • Skills in developing and maintaining a data tracking system.
  • Ability to support sustainability and capacitybuilding activities for CFB agency partners.
  • Strong team management and leadership skills.

  • Ability to effectively communicate with employees, volunteers, donors, and businesses.
  • Strong time and management skills, long range planning and ability to 'see' roadblocks in advance.
  • Ability to work without a highlevel of direction.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated interest in learning internally and externally and incorporating new information into role.
  • Ability to work with people from diverse economic, social, and political backgrounds.

Minimum Qualifications:


  • Four (4) years of experience in human services, business or related environment.
  • Two (2) years of staff management and supervisory experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in social work, public health, business management, nonprofit management or a related field or relevant experience.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint, etc.).
  • For company insurance purposes, at least 21 years of age; possess a current Arizona Driver's License with a safe driving record.

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Experience working or volunteering at a nonprofit and/or food bank.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.

Physical Requirements:


  • Medium Work ability to exert 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
