- Performing field materials testing of soil, concrete, masonry, rebar, asphalt
- Preparing detailed and complete field reports with all relevant test results and inspections/observations provided
- Performing basic laboratory tests on soil and concrete and preparing reports of results
- Evaluating site and subgrade conditions on construction projects and providing recommendations
- Communicating with clients, contractors, and engineering and technician staff regarding construction issues
- ACI Level I Concrete or ICC certifications in the disciplines of soils, reinforced concrete, and masonry
- 3 - 5 years experience required
- Ability to learn to read and interpret plans, specifications, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to apply basic mathematical formulas and concepts to calculate quantities, estimate volumes, inspect constructed work, make recommendations in the field and to perform calculations for field and laboratory tests and equipment.
- Must be able to lift, carry, push and pull up to 70 pounds on a regular basis
- Requires a valid, clean driver's license, as travel to job sites is required

NOVA Engineering has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Engineering Technician to join our Columbia, SC team. We are looking for recent Civil Engineering graduates or Civil/Geotechnical Engineers to support our energy sector projects across the country.

About NOVA
Currently, NOVA employs 650+ personnel in 18 offices serving clients throughout the southeastern United States and beyond. Our firm has professional and administrative support staff that includes registered professional engineers, registered professional geologists, environmental scientists, registered roof observers, LEED accredited professionals, soil/foundation engineers, laboratory specialists, materials technicians, ICC-certified inspectors, NICET-certified technicians, and AWS-certified welding inspectors. NOVA's facilities include AASHTO-accredited laboratories in soils, concrete, aggregate and hot-mix asphalt testing/inspection. We also have CCRL-inspected laboratories for concrete sampling, curing, and testing.
