- Work on project teams supporting all quality and project management goals.
- Meet all project deadlines and support the processes and procedures to meet deadlines.
- Maintain up-to-date technical skills related to the design of electrical substations for the electric utility power grid through on-the-job work and formal training.
- Develop physical layouts for protection & control equipment, protection & control logic, elementary, and wiring.
- Develop drawings and assist in the preparation of design packages using CAD/drafting skills; Drawings include:
- Wiring Diagrams
- AC/DC Elementary Diagrams
- Circuit Schedules
- Logic Diagrams
- Panel Arrangements
- Z-Block Tables
- One-Line Diagrams
- Main One Line Diagram
- RMOL's
- Operating Diagrams
- Prepare additional support documentation as needed to assist procurement, construction, and operation/maintenance of systems being designed.
- Assist in determining schedule and budget requirements.
- Consistently following established design standards and CAD drafting standards while assuring quality, accuracy, and completeness.
- Identifying process improvement ideas and commuting ideas through appropriate management channels.
- High School diploma.
- AS Degree or 2 years of formal post-high school specialized trade (technical school/certifications).
- 5+ years experience in P&C substation design using AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
- Experience directly related to working with electricity, preferably in utilities.
- Strong knowledge of AutoCAD.
- Strong knowledge of MicroStation.
- Microsoft Office product application.
