    Purpose and Objective of the PositionThe Principal Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for delivering world class results in design, new product introduction and manufacturing processes. Major ResponsibilitiesLead and project manage the development, design and validation of existing and new manufacturing and assembly processes utilizing 3D solid-modeling, and world class manufacturing methods with a focus on employee safety, ergonomics, and lean concepts. Development should include consideration for direct labor differing language and skill capabilities.
    Lead the Manufacturing Engineering effort in the New Product Introduction (NPI)

    Stage Gate process by executing the following:
    Serve as the thought leader for mechanical design and manufacturing engineers.
    Expert in new and cutting-edge CNC

    Machining Competency:

    CNC Mill, CNC Lathe, EDM, and grinding experience, Able to produce 3D models for in process material and fixtures and direct CNC Programmers to make precision parts.

    CNC Programming Experience in Mastercam a plus.
    Skilled thought leader in the machining (and micro-machining), of a wide variety of materials.
    Ferrous, non-Ferrous, fragile (I.e., ceramics, rare earth magnet material), and micro-machining to exacting tight tolerances.

    Expertise in leading projects in an Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (AME) RoleEnsure manufacturing process accommodates final machining to achieve geometrical tolerances.

    Provide expertise and working knowledge of relevant mechanical standards around part machining, and product design requirements.
    Determine manufacturing method and estimate setup/run times.

    (Takt time/cycle time analysis)Support the Team's efforts in the Design Failure Mode Effects Analysis (DFMEA)Lead the Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis (PFMEA) efforts on each project.

    Develop control plans and inspection methods.

    Define all materials, tooling, fixturing, adhesives, and methods of manufacturing, as needed and ensure safety and quality are taken into consideration throughout the process.

    Create high quality standard work that reduces human error.
    Apply GD&T as required to designs, and components drawings.
    Skilled in the application of Lean Manufacturing and 6 Sigma Methods.
    Demonstrated experience in developing new approaches in machining different parts or modifying CNC equipment to push machine capability.


    Salary Range:
    150,000-$165,000Qualifications Education and ExperienceBachelor's degree in mechanical, manufacturing, or industrial Engineering.
    Master's degree in engineering preferred.
    Minimum of 3 years in a lead/principal engineering role, and minimum of 15 years' experience in an engineering capacity.
    Proven record of successful launch as it relates to new product and process introduction.
    Proven record of leading cost reduction and continuous improvement initiatives.

    Expert 3D CAD skills with Solidworks, ProE or another 3D packageExpert drafting and GD & T skills with the ability to perform tolerance stack up analysis.

    Black / Green Belt / Lean Manufacturing Certification DesiredKnowledge of magnetic materials and applications a plus.

    Excellent manufacturing problem solving skills with extensive knowledge of DMAIC principals; uses rigorous logic and methods to solve problems producing effective solutions to problem statements.
