- Ph.
- Master's degree with a specialty in School or Clinical Mental Health/Community Counseling from a CACREP-accredited program within a non-profit, traditional academic institution;
- Clinical practice experience;
- Licensed Professional Counselor/equivalent and/or ability to attain full licensure in Michigan;
- Potential for or record of successful teaching;
- Potential for or record of scholarly productivity;
- Demonstrated commitment to social justice, advocacy, and inclusion.

Position Summary
University of Detroit Mercy Department of Counseling and Addiction Studies invites applicants to join our nationally-recognized Counseling program to begin August, 2024.
Our Counseling program is guided by the principles of social justice, cultural competence, ethical conduct, advocacy and service to others.
We are committed to inclusion, excellence in research and teaching, and making a difference in the lives of others, especially those on the margins.
In addition to engaging in a number of advocacy and social justice-related activities, we operate the largest no-cost Counseling Clinic in the city of Detroit, serving the mental and behavioral health needs of the public while operating as a teaching Clinic.
Our Counseling program mission is to train highly competent and compassionate professional counselors who are able to apply evidence-based knowledge to a wide variety of real-life problems in various clinical and school settings.
With a focus on advocacy and social justice, we strive to cultivate ethical, reflective, and accountable counselors who apply critical thinking and empathy to their work with individuals, families, and communities.

Responsibilities include teaching core courses in the Counseling program, research and scholarly activities, student advising, curriculum oversight, and service in our traditional campus-based counseling program in the heart of the city of Detroit.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
Job may require lifting light weight objects (1 to 10 pounds) with no repetitive bending or stooping. Occasionally lift average weight objects (1 to 10 pounds).
Work Environment
Regular exposure to favorable conditions such as those found in a normal office.
