Job Title Assistant or Associate Professor of Counseling Requisition No Job Description Summary

The Department of Counseling at Oakland University, Rochester, Michigan is seeking applicants for a Tenure-Track position in School Counseling, at either the assistant or associate professor rank beginning August 15, 2024.

The position will be a full-time appointment with the possibility of Summer teaching. Responsibilities include teaching, research, and service activities. We will begin reviewing applications on November 15, 2023 and continue reviewing applications until the position is filled. The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to diversity and inclusion.

Minimum Qualifications

A doctorate or ABD in Counselor Education/Counseling (CACREP or CACREP equivalent); a Michigan license as a professional counselor and/or school counselor must be attained by the end of the first year of employment; teaching experience; competence in working with students from diverse populations and backgrounds.

Preferred characteristics include a professional identity as a school counselor and at least two years of experience as a school counselor.

The Department of Counseling offers a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health, School Counseling, and a Doctoral degree in Counselor Education.

Both Masters of Arts programs and the Doctoral program are CACREP Accredited. The department has faculty with diverse interests who share a commitment to providing excellence in counselor education. Our department has a long tradition of high quality counselor education in the metro Detroit area.
