Description

Under limited supervision, repairs and provides preventive maintenance service of electronic instruments and control systems including computer hardware and software.

Operates and maintains the computerized maintenance system; may lead a team of technicians to provide preventive maintenance service of electronic equipment throughout the Utilities Department, coordinates jobs and tasks of personnel; and performs other related duties as assigned.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Which are not in any hierarchical order)


  • Plans, assigns, and coordinates troubleshooting, maintenance test and repair work on the electronic instrumentation, computer, and control systems of the treatment plants and lift stations.
  • Provides assistance to install, start-up, modify, and maintain computer hardware and software in the utilities department.
  • Creates upcoming work orders via the computer system, and tracks and updates status of work orders, and generates required reports.
  • Evaluates proposals, drawings and specifications for instrumentation and telemetry modifications.
  • Repairs telemetry and automation systems by troubleshooting, identifying and procuring necessary replacement parts and/or upgrades as appropriate.
  • Attends Division meetings to plan and schedule work and to exchange information on work status.
  • Trains and requires employees to observe safe working practices and ensures availability of required safety equipment.
  • Provides training for employees on the job and determines outside training courses for them.
  • Attends job related training to improve job knowledge and/or enhance job performance.
  • Documents changes made to electrical and instrumentation programs, schematic drawings, and operations and maintenance manuals.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Salary
$28.23 hourly - pay grade 57

Qualifications


Associates degree with specialized training in electronics, information systems or a related field (education will be verified using the "Education Requirements" listed below) and three (3) years related experience, or any equivalent combination of training and experience.


Special Driving Requirements

  • Have not lost any driving privileges by reason of revocation, suspension or denial of license, or have been convicted and/or had an adjudication withheld of three or more moving violations.
  • Have not had one DUI (Driving Under the Influence) in any preceding twentyfour (24) month period. License suspension of two weeks or less or suspensions based only on nonmoving violations that have been cleared will not automatically result in revocation of driving privileges.
  • Have not had more than one DUI (conviction or adjudication withheld) in Florida or any other state within the past ten (10) years.

Education Requirements:
To be considered valid (or verified) for position qualification purposes, and consistent with City Hiring Policy 4-5, a High School, GED or equivalent diploma, and all higher education degrees or certifications must have been issued by:

  • public education institution in the State of Florida or any State or Territory of the United States; or
- an institution accredited by an accrediting organization that is recognized by the Florida Department of Education or the U.S. Department of Education; or
- an institution that is accredited by an organization that is recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).
- an institution whose degree or certification is accepted by institutions identified in either a), b), or c), above, for the purpose of admission to institutions identified in either a), b), or c) above.
International degrees will be evaluated to determine if they satisfy qualification requirements.
