Position Summary
The Systems Administrator 2 is a high-level role within the IT department, primarily responsible for overseeing, maintaining, and upgrading the organization's computer systems and networks. The System Administrator 2 has the ability to make informed decisions independently, and may contribute to the development of procedures and policy guidelines. This position requires a deep understanding of both hardware and software systems, as well as network infrastructure and data systems. The individual in this role ensures that the IT infrastructure operates efficiently and securely to support the organization's operations and objectives.

SALARY RANGE:

$75,000 - $85,000 depending on qualitifications

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to, the following fundamental duties:

Develop system life cycles for infrastructure equipment while working with management for replacement, upgrades and innovative solutions for staff and students.
Manage and configure network hardware, software, data systems and infrastructure equipment to ensure access, reliability and performance is maintained at a high level.
Implement and maintain cyber security measures to protect systems and data from unauthorized access, cyber threats and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
Oversee backup processes for the systems you are responsible for. Test disaster recovery plans and ensure data integrity and availability.
Involved in planning, executing, and managing larger projects independently. Make take on leadership roles within the project team.
Plan and execute system upgrades, installations and patches while working with stakeholders to ensure uptime as needed for operations.
Work with other members and departments to integration hardware and software solutions to provide a seamless work environment for end users.
Maintain accurate documentation for system configurations, procedures, and compliance reports.
Regularly monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and perform routine maintenance to ensure each system operates efficiently.
Work closely with other IT team members, departments and external vendors to ensure IT projects and services meet organizational needs.
Provide leadership to all Systems Administrator 1 and Technical Specialists Roles as needed.
Participates in district in-service, workshops, and meetings as directed.
All employees of District 194 will promote and represent site safety by performing their job in a manner that reflects any and all relevant District safety guidelines or policies.
May require travel to other schools or district locations.
May require on-call hours, or off-hour work to address system issues or perform system upgrades outside of normal school hours.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS (Specific training or job experience required before appointment):

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
3 - 5 years of experience in systems administration or a related field
Strong understanding of computer hardware, software, data systems, and networking. Proficiency in operating systems (e.g., Windows, Linux, Apple OS-X) network protocols, and security practices. Excellent problem-solving, communication and teamwork skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

1. Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator, JAMF Administrator, CompTIA Server+ or Network+ or Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
