Job Summary and Qualifications:


The EKG Technician works under the direction of the Director of Cardiovascular Services and performs various diagnostic cardiology procedures including EKG's, Stress Tests, Holter Monitoring and Nuclear Stress Tests.

The EKG Tech will have sound knowledge and proficiency in the variety of functions in the set-up, performance, and monitoring of cardiovascular diagnostic testing.


What you will do in this role:

  • You will run standard, STAT and pre-op EKG's according to established protocols and physicians' requests. Performs Holter Monitoring and Stress Tests.
  • You will respond to "codes" by immediately reporting to the area as outlined in the department policy procedure. Remains on standby to perform EKG on patient as soon as possible.
  • You will process EKG's according to policy and procedure.
  • You will distribute interpreted EKG's to the patient's charts
  • You will perform routine maintenance and care of the EKG equipment.
  • You will assist in training new employees in the EKG lab.
  • You will restock work areas with needed supplies. Keeps areas clean and safe for patients.
  • You will communicate and work effectively with other hospital departments, physicians' offices and other customers.
  • You will perform and assist the physician with cardiac stress testing (treadmill and thallium)
  • You will follow hospital policies and procedures, supports and performs performance improvement activities, and assists with the preparation of monthly statistic reports
  • You will maintain and update patient files as necessary in the EKG lab.

What qualifications you may need:

  • Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • EKG certification is preferred.
  • 13 years of previous experience preferred.
