Minimum qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 6 years of experience in program management.
  • Experience managing programs and processes across distributed systems.
  • Experience with creating and implementing external communications plans, including crisis communication management, utilizing modern communication strategies.
  • Experience in organizing community engagement events with internal crossfunctional teams and nonprofits.

Preferred qualifications:


  • Master's degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or other technical related field.
  • 5 years of experience managing crossfunctional or crossteam projects.
  • Experience communicating technical concepts to nontechnical audiences.
  • Experience in building trust with local municipalities, nonprofit decision makers, and community members.
  • Experience problemsolving across distributed, fastpaced, and constantly changing environments.
  • Understanding of research methodologies, including experience in developing and sharing strategic recommendations from a broad range of data sources (e.g., survey data, social intelligence, qualitative research, online telemetry, business metrics).

In this role you combine your deep market knowledge with tech industry savvy to find solutions that support Google's growth.

You'll work with specific teams to oversee vendor and partner relationships.

Your successful management skills have the potential to impact every part of the business and save Google millions of dollars in operating costs.

You'll ensure that we receive contract compliance on our third-party agreements, while identifying the most cost-effective solutions for our needs.

You'll take lead on special projects, manage vendors and present your recommendations to Google leadership.

As our products and services scale the globe, the Data Center Energy and Location Strategy (ELS) team works behind the scenes to secure infrastructure to strengthen Google's future.

As part of the Data Center ELS team, the Economic and Community Development team is an organization responsible for analyzing and mitigating economic, community and policy risks, to deliver an optimized inventory of assets meeting the operating needs of the business, and to ensure and maintain our license to operate in our markets.

We provide the strategy, structure, and tool sets on economic, community, and policy issues for our regional site selection teams to make quality decisions at scale.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $139,000-$207,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location.

The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations.

Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

Responsibilities:


  • Produce locationspecific community development plans with qualitative and quantitative data collection, and turn that research data into actionable insights to understand and prioritize community needs.
  • Develop tools and processes to support local community communication plans, sharing knowledge of the crucial role of data centers, as well as the impactful and meaningful projects Google supports.
  • Develop locally focused social impact investment plans that are aligned to community needs and are selfsustaining.
  • Lead strategic engagements with local community groups such as municipal leaders and community based nonprofit organizations to adopt Google's community initiatives into their core focus.
  • Collaborate with the global functional team to localize and implement our community research methodology, community communications priorities, as well as community development initiatives in each community.
