Representative projects include:

the development of long-range financial plans for economically challenged cities and school districts; financial analysis of criminal justice system reforms; evaluation of the effectiveness of tax incentives; quantitative and analytical support for public sector collective bargaining; and operational and performance analysis for government agencies.

  • Our Analysts are a critical part of the project teams that serve our broad base of clients. Each role provides a solid foundation for a meaningful and growthoriented career within the firm, and many of our project managers and Managing Directors started their careers with PFM.
  • Daytoday challenges:
  • Operating budget analysis
  • Workforce staffing and compensation analysis
  • Revenue analysis and tax policy development
  • Benchmarking and best practices research
  • Quantitative modeling and analysis
  • Working closely with elected and appointed officials, management, and department staff
  • Communicating findings and recommendations to officials, their constituents, business or community groups and other stakeholders through written reports or public presentations
  • Key attributes:
  • Bachelor's degree conferred by May 31, 2024, with coursework in political science, economics, public policy and/or related areas of study (strong academic performance encouraged); graduate degree in above areas a plus
  • Authorization to work in the U.S. for any employer without sponsorship.
  • Demonstrated ability or interest in working with governments or nonprofits on financial, operational and policy challenges, as evidenced by prior professional experience, internships, or relevant academic coursework
  • Proven analytical abilities, including strong quantitative skills and an interest in quantitative analysis and modeling
  • Unwavering integrity and ethics, exceptional attention to detail and the ability to work with limited supervision
  • Wholly supportive of the Firm's policies and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI)
  • Excellent writing ability and public presentation skills
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Willingness to travel for client engagements as necessary
