    Job Summary:

    The Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) shall assist the Pharmacist as requested and as permitted by law, with work functions in the pharmacy. The CPhT will perform many pharmacy-related functions under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist and perform all administrative functions of the department within the scope of a certified pharmacy technician that do not require professional judgment or extensive technical training. The below is intended to describe the general content of and requirements for the performance of this job and is not to be construed as an exhaustive statement of essential functions, responsibilities, or requirements.

    Primary Duties and Responsibilities

    1. Helps maintain orderly, clean environment, including cleanliness of pharmacy.
    2. Answers inbound calls from patients, prescribers, payers, etc. and transfers callers to the correct team or department if unable to assist.
    3. Makes outbound calls to patients, prescribers, and pharmacovigilance groups as required.
    4. Enters data in computer system, recording all prescriptions, patient medication profiles, pre-call assessments, progress notes, etc. as required.
    5. Under direction of pharmacist, prepares unneeded or outdated drugs for return or disposal as needed.
    6. Performs general clerical duties for the department.
    7. Verifies patient name, address, and DOB upon receipt of prescription and prior to delivery.
    8. Participates in departmental and organizational performance improvement and Quality activities.
    9. Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors. Supports and maintains a culture of safety and quality.
    10. Performs other pharmacy-related duties as requested or required.
    11. Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in particular situations.
    12. Knowledge and skill ensuring that medications are properly packaged, labeled, and stored, and not outdated.
    13. When AnovoRx has written agreements with manufacturers for pharmacovigilance services, then as to such services participates in Pharmacovigilance training as required, receives reporters' call concerning adverse events, product complaints and medical inquiries as required, alerts pharmacists that reporters have made reports, and otherwise assists with fulfillment of contracted pharmacovigilance obligations.
    14. Certified pharmacy technicians may also:(a) Receive new or transferred oral medical and prescription orders;(b) Receive and transfer copies of oral medical and prescription orders between pharmacy practice sites.
    15. A registered pharmacy technician may, under the supervision of a pharmacist, perform those tasks associated with the preparation and dispensing process except those tasks identified in Rule that must be personally performed by a pharmacist or pharmacy intern under the personal supervision and in the presence of a pharmacist.
    16. Pharmacy technicians must wear appropriate identification showing name and appropriate title (e.g., pharmacy technician, certified pharmacy technician).
    17. All pharmacy technician functions shall be performed under the supervision of a pharmacist, who shall direct and verify the accuracy of all pharmacy technician functions.
    18. A registered technician shall maintain his or her registration certificate at the pharmacy practice site; additionally, all certified technicians shall display in like manner evidence of certification. Pharmacy technicians shall always possess, while on duty, proof of registration and proof of certification, if applicable.
    19. All registered technicians shall immediately notify the board in writing of any change of address or employer.
    20. Regular and reliable attendance expected.
    21. Other work-related duties as assigned by supervisor/manager.

    Minimum Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills Required

    1. Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
    2. Minimum of 1 year experience in retail or specialty pharmacy
    3. A current unrestricted state technician and national certification for pharmacy technician must be evidenced prior to and during employment.
    4. National CPhT Certification Required
    5. Must have good computer skills.
    6. Must present professionally on the phone and in person.
    7. Must articulate thoughts well and communicate them clearly, both verbally and in writing.
    8. Repetitive motions in answering phones and using computer keyboard.
    9. Must be motivated.
    10. Adept at handling sensitive and confidential situations.
