Summary

This position is located in the Commodity Protection & Quality Research Unit, Agricultural Research Service, Pacific West Area in Parlier, CA.

In this position, you will develop new and improved management strategies for insect and plant pathogen pests associated with fresh and stored horticultural commodities.

This is a term, time-limited appointment with an initial duration no less than 13 months and can be extended up to a total of 10 years.

Duties

Performs insect molecular biology and toxicology procedures including nucleic acid extraction, polymerase chain reaction, dose response bioassays etc.
Performs insect collection and other operations in the field as requirements of the laboratory.
Determines proper experimental approach, adapts, modifies or develops new molecular techniques or procedures to satisfy the needs of the research project.
Assists in one or more phases of the research process by performing a variety of technical duties, in a laboratory, field, or greenhouse environment.
