    Promote the allocation of resources and management of school operations in order to ensure a safe and productive learning environment
    Assist in establishing and sustaining collaborative learning and shared leadership to promote learning and achievement of all students
    Engage parents and community members in the educational process and help create an environment where community resources support student learning, achievement and well being
    Assist the building principal in supervising and administering all components of the school building and its programs
    Serve as a member of the building leadership team and other committees as needed
    Assist in initiating, designing, and implementing programs to meet specific needs of the schools
    Share in evaluation and guidance of all staff members regarding their individual and group performance
    Assist in the continuous revision and upgrading of curricula in cooperation with the faculty and central office personnel
    Provide leadership and guidance for school-related organizations, activities, and sporting events
    Assist in interpreting the needs, goals and philosophy of the school to students, parents and the community
    Assist in planning and preparing professional development activities in collaboration with building principal and central office personnel
    Organize personnel and facilities to provide maximum educational effort and growth for students
    Assist in providing a safe and healthy environment for students and personnel
    Assist in preparing schedules for teachers and students
    Model and provide guidance to teachers, students and parents in interpersonal relationships
    Share with the building principal, the administration of all funds charged to the school
    Act as building principal in his/her absence
    Perform other duties as assigned by the building principal
    Master's degree and valid Ohio Principal licensure specific for grade band
    Sound grasp of the Ohio Learning Standards
    Experience working in an urban school district or working with urban education
    Knowledge of differentiated instruction, child development principles, and a wide range of instructional and intervention strategies
    Effective time management skills
    Experience with socio-emotional learning preferred
    Knowledge of and/or experience with PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention Support) preferred
    Familiarity with school improvement process preferred
    Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, hear, see, read, speak, reach, stretch with hands and arms, crouch, kneel, stoop, and climb stairs
    Occasionally lift and/or move lightweight items up to 40 lbs.
    Work is performed in a school setting
    Occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and tissue
    Work may be subject to frequent interruptions
    Some assignments are subject to completion within strict timelines
    Periodic travel for meetings, professional development activities, community events, and work assignments
    Periodically expected to work outside standard school hours

    SUMMARY

    Under the supervision of the Principal, the Assistant Principal assists with the management of the staff, program and physical resources of a high school building, and performs related district-wide administrative duties as required or assigned.


    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Help create a shared vision and clear goals for their schools and ensure continuous progress toward achieving the goals
    Support the implementation of high quality standards based instruction that results in higher levels of achievement for all students
    Promote the allocation of resources and management of school operations in order to ensure a safe and productive learning environment

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Master's degree and valid Ohio Principal licensure specific for grade band
