GENERAL PURPOSE


Under the supervision of the Principal, this position provides direction and coordination of activities and athletics programs at the high school level.


MAIN JOB TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead operation of all student athletics and activities

  • Supervise all cocurricular and athletic activities, including budget administration, event coordination, and protection of student safety
  • Prepare the school's interscholastic athletic schedule in consultation with the Principal and coaching staff
  • Coordinate the operation of athletic contests, including transportation, officials, facilities, and security
  • Represent the school in district, regional, and state VHSL meetings as required and ensures compliance with VHSL rules
  • Supervise event sales, including staffing, accounting, and safe deposit of monies collected.
  • Serve as primary designee of Principal for selection, assignment, and supervision of coaching staff and activity sponsors
  • Work with staff within school and relevant central departments to ensure appropriate hiring, onboarding, and review of coaches and sponsors
Contributes to general building leadership and administration

  • Assists the principal with budget and procurement processes
  • Assists in the supervision of the daily use of school facilities for both academic and nonacademic purposes
  • Provides assistance, as warranted, in emergency situations
  • Develop and administer strong inventory control systems
  • Contribute to maintenance of a safe learning environment and enforcement of the Student Code of Conduct

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Master's degree from an accredited college or university
  • Professional license from the Virginia Board of Education or eligibility for same; endorsement in administration and supervision preferred but not required
  • Experience as a head coach or athletic administrator at the high school level

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Work environment is indoors and outdoors with frequent exposure to weather conditions, regular exposure to loud noise, and mínimal exposure to chemicals or other negative air quality elements.
  • The work is medium work, requiring exertion of up to fifty (50) pounds of force to move or lift objects.
