- Work with the team to install, configure, harden, patch, tune, and upgrade the VMware infrastructure and storage area network infrastructure, including ESXI hosts VMware vCenter and other virtual appliances.
- Monitor the performance of the infrastructure and tune virtual machines, storage, and hardware.
- Assist with Storage Area Network management, supporting Dell, HPE and Linux products.
- Troubleshoot storage network hardware and software, including VM-based backup software (Veeam)
- Track and report on storage consumption and storage availability.
- Assist with planning storage expansion.
- Configure, modify, and optimize storage volumes to support customer operations.
- Work with team to configure, deploy, and maintain backup software, backup hardware, and cloud storage for DR.
- Perform restores for end-user when requested.
- Work with team to create new Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity plan for a new Data center.
- Work as an SCCM administrator.
- Create technical documentation to include technical instructions and technical diagrams.
- Assist Planning tech team in helpdesk ticket support.
- Oversight of the ticketing queue including resolution of escalated tickets.
- Weekend coverage rotation, as needed.
- Exposure to Windows Server 2022, 2019 and 2016
- Ability to manage several projects simultaneously from inception to implementation.

- Depending upon area of assignment, a valid driver's license in accordance with both State and Commission rules and regulations. Driver's license must be unencumbered by restrictions, revocations, suspensions, or points that could limit the employee's ability to drive Commission vehicles or perform driving duties required by the position of assignment.

Reporting directly to the IT Systems Manager, the Systems Engineer will work as a member on the Tech Team, in support of the end-users in the Montgomery County Planning Department. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates looking to learn and gain knowledge of VMWare, storage and Veeam backup software, from an exceptional and motivated team; guided by consultants with tremendous knowledge in the industry. This is a systems engineer position, where you will be working with a Senior VMWare Systems Engineer and performing daily tasks to ensure the healthy state of the virtual, storage and backup infrastructures.

The salary range listed above represents the earning potential for this position. Salary is commensurate with experience. This position is eligible for a sign-on bonus (external candidates only).

Working Conditions:
Work is performed in an office setting. Work involves walking, standing, bending, crouching, and may carry equipment and supplies up to 49 pounds. Work must be performed accurately and may require occasional overtime, after-hours, weekend, or on-call work. You will also be required to assist the patch deployment team one night every month to ensure that the Windows patches are deployed to all Windows servers.
