- Plan and implement appropriate instructional strategies and activities for students with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in an elementary classroom setting.
- Develop individualized education plans (IEPs) in collaboration with other members of the special education team and parents/guardians.
- Use evidence-based practices and interventions to address the unique needs of students with autism, including munication, social skills, and behavior management.
- Provide direct instruction in academic subjects, adaptive skills, and functional routines to support students' overall development and independence.
- Monitor student progress and use data to inform instructional decisions and modify teaching strategies as needed.
- Maintain a positive and supportive learning environment that fosters engagement, participation, and growth for all students.
- Collaborate with other school staff, including paraprofessionals, therapists, and administrators, to ensure coordinated and prehensive services for students with autism.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education or related field from an accredited institution.
- Connecticut teaching certification in Special Education (065) or eligibility for certification through alternate route program.
- Experience working with students with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in an educational setting, preferably at the elementary level.
- Knowledge of evidence-based practices and interventions for teaching students with autism, including Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) principles.
- Strong munication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
