    It is the world's leading center for pediatric burn care and is the only American Burn Association (ABA) exclusively pediatric verified burn center in New England and New York.

    The Boston Shriners Hospital is one of four pediatric burn specialty hospitals in Shriners Children's health system and provide comprehensive care for cleft lip, cleft lep palate and other craniofacial anomalies, with a multidisciplinary care team.

    Job Overview

    We have an opportunity for Per Diem Child Life Specialists.

    The Child Life Specialist is responsible to work with children, from infancy through adolescence, in a family centered care environment.

    This position provides services in both inpatient and outpatient settings.


    This position requires strong skills in child development, assessment and planning, psychosocial support, procedural support and preparation, group leadership, volunteer supervision and goal directed play.

    Responsibilities

    The Child Life Specialist implements a Recreational/Child Life therapy program for the patients and families. Develops age specific and culturally appropriate treatment plans based on standards of therapy and individual needs.

    Reviews medical care through hospital play or discussion with patient/family. The ability to anticipate clinical patient issues and plan treatment interventions. Collaborates with teams across the hospital to provide a continuum of care.

    Qualifications


    Position Requirements:
    1 to 3 years Pediatric experience; Bachelor's from an accredited Therapeutic Recreation or Child Life Therapy program.

    Per Diem Work Schedule Requirements :

    • Will be available for one weekend/8 hour shift in a six week time-period
    • Will be available for one major summer and winter holiday if needed from the following: Memorial Day
    July 4th

    Labor Day

    Thanksgiving

    Christmas

    New Years


    • In order to maintain per diem status, it is a requirement to keep all annual competencies up to date. (i.e. Annual Shine Modules, Self- Performance Evaluations, etc.)
