Chemistry Assistant/Support Scientist I - GreenWater Laboratories

Location:
On Site - GreenWater Laboratories, 205 Zeagler Drive, Ste 302, Palatka FL 32177


Duties:

The receipt, logging and preparation of samples for processing

Daily cleaning of glassware and benchtops

The use of Enzyme Linked Immunosorbent Assay to analyze water samples

• Preparation of samples and sample spikes for analysis
• Loading of ELISA plates and using manufacturer instructions for ELISA analysis
• Set-up of software for the use of a plate reader for absorbance readings
• Interpretation and transcription of results

The extraction of algal material using sensitive laboratory equipment

The preparation of test solutions, compounds and reagents for analysis

Confer with other scientists and work on group projects

Read and interpret SDS material sheets


Requirements:

The applicant should have, at minimum, a B.S. degree in the field of chemistry (or related field) with experience using analytical techniques.

Some training will be provided, but the applicant should be able to conduct basic calculations (recoveries, molarity, etc.) and be familiar with centrifugation, ELISA, and pipetting.

It would be beneficial if the applicant has completed coursework pertaining to quantitative and instrumental analysis and has an understanding of HPLC.

Due to the nature of the work, a working knowledge of laboratory protocol and safety procedures is required.

$ $23.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
