    Job Description

    Overview
    VTG is seeking a Senior Buyer to support our Virginia Beach office.

    The Senior Buyer prepares and sends formal bid documents to suppliers, including RFQs; ensures compliance with all federal regulatory and other legal requirements applying to contractors providing supplies and services to the U.S.

    government, including U.S.

    Department of Defense customers; negotiates purchase order prices, delivery schedules, requirements, and terms and conditions with suppliers; evaluates best value source selections consistent with quality, reliability, and capability requirements; and issues purchase orders to suppliers.


    Responsibilities

    The Senior Buyer prepares and sends formal bid documents to suppliers, including RFQs; ensures compliance with all federal regulatory and other legal requirements applying to contractors providing supplies and services to the U.S.

    government, including U.S.

    Department of Defense customers; negotiates purchase order prices, delivery schedules, requirements, and terms and conditions with suppliers; evaluates best value source selections consistent with quality, reliability, and capability requirements; and issues purchase orders to suppliers.

    Supports business unit subcontractor sourcing, make-or-buy, and source selection decision process.
    Supports preparation of materials cost estimates for company bids and proposals.
    Analyzes and acts upon purchase requisitions.
    Negotiates prices, delivery schedules, and lead times as necessary to fulfill project requirements.
    Processes requests for set-up of new suppliers in the companys electronic vendor records.
    Supports processing of supplier payments as necessary.
    Analyzes and purchases under and in accordance with terms and conditions contained in reseller agreements.
    Prepares and accurately completes all required documentation maintained in company records so that records are CPSR-compliant.
    Conducts compliance reviews on others' completed files to ensure CPSR compliance.
    Supports all internal and external audit activities by producing required data, documents, and statistics.
    Ensures a high-level of internal customer satisfaction by regularly soliciting feedback.
    Supports the implementation of process improvements and streamlined procedures whenever possible.
    Assists with mentoring and training less experienced company purchasing professionals.

    Qualifications

    Required Skills:
    Strong written and oral communication, interpersonal, negotiation, research, and analytical skills.
    Extensive knowledge of applicable federal and agency-specific acquisition and supply chain integrity laws and regulations.
    Strong planning, decision-making, relationship-building, and coaching skills.
    Ability to adapt and respond to changes in business conditions, competing demands, and unanticipated events.
    Ability to operate independently with a minimal amount of day-to-day supervision while complying with all internal control procedures.

    Strong understanding of businesses cases and an appreciation of contractual terms and performance as they pertain to and affect financial results.

    Extensive understanding of Costpoint purchasing module set-up requirements.
    Microsoft Office

    Qualifications:
    Bachelors Degree.
    Minimum five to seven years of relevant work experience.
    CPPM desirable.
