Overview


The Coordinator at Flagstaff Shelter Services has a responsibility to meet the basic needs of the clients staying at the shelter.


These obligations include the following:

  • Provide a safe and sanitary environment: this includes scheduled cleaning of the building as well as maintaining social distancing, wearing masks when appropriate, washing hands frequently and following all covid procedures as provided by CDC.
  • Promote fair and consistent treatment.
  • Create a professional environment free from racism, sexual harassment, prejudice, and other offensive behavior.
  • Establish "professional only" relationships with clients.
Objectives

  • Coordinators are responsible for the following objectives:_
  • Teamwork:_ By using effective communication skills, Coordinators will foster a positive environment for other staff members and clients.
  • Public Interaction:_ Coordinators will interact with outside resources, partners, and the public from time to time. All interaction with these groups will be professional, keeping the best interests of the shelter in mind.
  • Service:_ Coordinators will provide quality service and supportive interaction to all clients and team members with compassion and in a professional manner without regard to racial, ethnic or social prejudices.
  • Efficiency:_ Workflow and upholding Standards: Coordinators will ensure that Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) are followed and all documentation is completed.
  • Cleanliness: _Coordinators will work with client volunteers to maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary environment.

Responsibilities:


  • Covid responsibilities: Properly wear gloves and masks; Recognize symptoms of Covid; Take temperatures of clients with symptoms; Instruct clients on proper technique for wearing masks and washing hands; properly quarantine clients who have symptoms for Covid or are high risk for contracting Covid; Practice social distancing.
  • Ensure that all policies are followed.
  • Complete Shift Reports.
  • Enter Data for checkin for both HMIS (if trained in HMIS) and Inhouse methods for tracking clients.
  • Complete HMIS data quality control processes, if assigned
  • Monitor all SOP's for the shift and delegate responsibilities to assistants as needed to ensure compliance
  • Work closely with volunteer supervisor to help manage operations effectively
  • Communicate with the staff from the previous shift during shift change and summarize events to staff responsible for the next shift.
  • Maintain the designated client schedule.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (continued)

  • Clear understanding of HMIS and Flagstaff Shelter Policies and Procedures.
  • Ability to make reasonable decisions.
  • Ability to work with people in crises, including those with mental illnesses, addictions, and criminal backgrounds without judgement.
  • Must be able to function both independently and in a team environment.
  • Tact, discretion, and resourcefulness are required at all times.
  • The coordinator position requires general knowledge of issues and challenges specific to homelessness, substance abuse, minorities, and persons with disabilities.
  • All other duties as assigned by the Director of Operations.
  • Work will be performed in a costeffective manner. Adhering to budgetary guidelines.
  • Attendance at all required staff meetings and trainings.
  • Coordinators must work weekends and holidays if scheduled.
Education, Experience, and Qualifications

  • High school education, GED or the equivalent.
- # Years of experience working in social services or relevant field.

  • General knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word and Excel).
  • Experienced in data entry.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Coordinators must be able to travel around the property and perform light lifting (25 lbs.)
  • Work is performed in a shelter, office, and outdoor environment.
  • Frequent bending, reaching, squatting and kneeling may be required while performing job functions.
  • Shifts may require long periods of standing and walking.
  • There may be exposure to cleaning agents and allergens.
  • Covid information, processes etc. Use of masks, gloves, etc.
  • We complete background checks on all employees who represent our agency. These do not automatically qualify or disqualify one from the position._

Job Types:
Full-time (30+ hours per week) & Part-time (under 30 hours per week) available.

Payrate:
$17.60 per hour (may include location-based shift differentials and additional hazard pay)
