Executive Director, GPS Global Procurement, Direct Materials, Supplier Management and GPS Site Procurement Operations

Role Summary:


Major Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

Lead GPS SS&P Direct Materials (BioProcessing, Cell Therapy, Packaging) Global Procurement Business Partner & Category, Direct Materials Supplier Management and GPs Site Operations Procurement with approximately 80 resources spanning across various regional/local markets and 16 manufacturing sites

  • Span of control is 5 direct reports and 80 FTEs. Categories spend management approximately $500M, Supplier Management scope ~200 suppliers, and 16 site operations.
  • Understand market nuances to effectively develop, implement and drive the global, regional, and local services strategy, policies, and processes.
  • Establish clear roles and responsibilities between regional / local resources and global category leads to ensure oneface to the business.
  • Encourage crossmarket and crossfunctional collaboration to take advantage of synergies through effective business partnering and stakeholder management.

Develop and manage key senior business relationships with functional business partners:

  • Ensure SS&P business partners are receiving exception service from the Procurement operations.
  • Develop collaborative relationships with business partners in order to leverage knowledge, spend and procurement effectiveness.
  • Be an engaged leader on the SS&P extended leadership team and an engaged empowered leader on the GPS SS&P leadership team; providing business expertise and strategic leadership.
  • Represent GPS SS&P on 1 or more of the GPS L1 leadership teams.
  • Champion Procurement training programs to better support business needs
  • Drive coownership of initiatives and accountability based on agreed upon strategies.
  • Develop and implement metrics and reporting mechanisms.

Ensure excellence in delivery of procurement initiatives that maximize corporate, business, and functional priorities and objectives:

  • Ensure compliance to preferred supplier programs.
  • Identify, build, and maintain mutually beneficial relationships, partnerships, and alliances with select suppliers through Supplier Relationship Development programs.
  • Oversee development and own supply plan for group of categories managed.
  • Drive planned cost savings in group based on category management strategies, compliance plans and innovation development, exceeding company value capture targets.
  • Ensure key agreements and contracts are reviewed to protect and advance the company's interest.
  • Ensure and influence ongoing talent development of the GPS SS&P team.
  • Establish/communicate criteria for evaluating staff performance.
  • Manage head count and direct the implementation of work processes and practices to optimize staff engagement and effectiveness plus meeting SS&P budget targets.
  • Partner with SS&P functional Leadership to build and deliver processes, training, procurement technology and knowledge management tools.
  • Collaborate with site / local procurement and manufacturing resources on solutions and standardization of business processes across the manufacturing sites
  • Own and drive mitigation projects on a prioritized basis

Build and continuously improve the business partner and category's procurement capability

Ensure all escalated issues with respect to quality, performance or supply are promptly resolved

Direct all initiatives and strategic decisions for the group, including all budgetary matters and management of resources.

Qualifications:


Minimum Requirements:

  • B.S./B.A.
  • Minimum of 1215 years of business experience
  • Minimum of 1012 years of multidisciplined procurement experience
  • Minimum of 7 years Pharmaceutical Procurement experience
  • Experience leading and participating on crossfunctional and/or global teams.
  • Managerial experience including managing teams of senior professional and managers and establishing performance expectations
  • Internal stakeholder management, data/information management, category management, process redesign and continuous improvement expertise, project manag
