POSITION OVERVIEW


Paradigm currently has an opening for
one (2) temporary full-time New Jersey licensed Registered Nurses (RNs) to provide medical services to children and adolescents at a 7-day summer camp for the New Jersey National Guard Child and Youth Program.


The RN shall provide nursing services for basic first aid and basic life support in accordance with the ethical, professional, and technical standards set forth by the health care industry.

The RN will work in the established New Jersey National Guard health care facility and be available to provide health care at localized field trips in and around Sea Girt not to exceed a 5-mile radius.


Pay Rate:

$55/hr. W-9 Independent Contractor

NURSING REQUIREMENTS

  • RN must comply with safety procedures and infection control/occupational health procedures.
  • RN must be able to provide coverage for one of the time slots listed above.
  • On the first day of their shift, RN will report to building 35, located on Sea Girt Drive, Sea Girt, NJ for initial briefing.
  • RN will be provided a health care facility which will be the primary location for medical examinations; and may require to provide support for youth camp activities located within a 5mile radius of the youth camp.
  • Cell phones will be provided to RN to use during their duties as the camp.
  • RN will use appropriate safeguards to prevent use or disclosure of the Protected Health Information other than as provided by this contract.
  • RN agrees to use administrative, physical, and technical safeguards that reasonably and appropriately protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the electronic protected health information that it creates, receives, maintains, or transmits in the execution of this contract.
  • RN will report to the government any security incident involving protected health information of which it becomes aware.

RN Skills Required:


License:

Nurse must possess full, active, current, and unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse in the state of New Jersey.

CPR/BLS certification that is unexpired while providing nursing services.


Physical Standards:


Nurse must be physically and mentally able to satisfactorily perform the duties of a camp nurse according to industry standards.


English Language Proficiency:

Nurse must be proficient in both spoken and written English.


Experience:
A minimum of two years nursing experience in pediatric, school, camp, outpatient, or emergency care is required. Working experience, no older than 3 years.

  • Effectively relate with school age children in a positive and supportive manner.
  • Instruct and supervise school age children in a residential summer camp setting.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers in the summer camp program.
  • Ability to manage acute homesickness.

Primary Functions/Duties:


  • Provide care to campers and staff in accordance with required treatment Procedures.
  • Review camper health histories with an emphasis on current illnesses and allergies.
  • Communicating health needs of students to instructors and administration as needed.
  • Administration of doctor prescribed and current prescription and over the counter medication.
  • Providing first aid for minor injuries and illnesses.
  • Referring more serious issues to the appropriate medical personnel.
  • Maintaining accurate health logs and incident report logs.
  • Communicate with parents in regard to health concerns.
  • Maintain a clean, healthy, and warm environment in the infirmary.
  • Keep clean and prepped sick beds.
  • Monitor and distribute medications.
  • Stay up to date on staff personnel medical information and histories.
  • Box and organize all camper health forms for storage.
  • Administer prescriptions/medications.
  • Manage health kits for instructor field use.
