Job Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Kennel Assistant to join our team. As a Kennel Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional care for our furry friends. This position requires heavy lifting and hands-on experience with animal care.


Responsibilities:

• Provide daily care and attention to animals in the kennel and small farm animals
• Clean kennels, cages, and other animal living spaces
• Feed and water animals according to their specific dietary needs
• Administer medications as directed by veterinary staff
• Exercise and play with animals to ensure their physical and mental wellbeing
• Assist with grooming tasks such as bathing and brushing
• Monitor animals for any signs of illness or distress and report to veterinary staff
• Maintain accurate records of animal care activities

Qualifications:

• Previous experience handling dogs in a professional setting preferred
• Knowledge of basic veterinary procedures and animal care techniques
• Ability to handle animals with patience, compassion, and confidence
• Strong communication skills to effectively interact with clients and team members
• Excellent customer service skills to provide a positive experience for pet owners
• Ability to work in a fastpaced environment while maintaining attention to detail

Skills:

• Heavy lifting: Ability to lift and carry animals of various sizes, as well as bags of food or supplies.
• Dog handling: Experience in safely handling dogs of different breeds and temperaments.
• Veterinary: Basic knowledge of veterinary procedures, terminology, and medical treatments.
• Animal care: Understanding of animal behavior, nutrition, hygiene, and general care practices.
• Veterinary assistant/technician: Familiarity with veterinary clinic operations and assisting veterinarians during procedures.
• Kennel: Knowledge of kennel management practices including cleaning, feeding, exercise routines, and record keeping.
• Animal restraint: Ability to safely restrain animals during procedures or grooming sessions.
• Customer service: Strong interpersonal skills to provide excellent customer service to pet owners.
• Pet sitting: Experience in providing care for pets in the absence of their owners.
