- Develops, manages, and conducts regular emergency and safety trainings for preparedness, informational, and compliance purposes.
- Coordinates with department directors, managers, supervisors, and employees on emergency and safety related issues.
- Assists with the development of other applicable plans, procedures or guides (examples Continuity of Operations Plans, Standard Operating Procedures, Field Operating Guides; and Safety Guides).
- Assists with hazard mitigation planning efforts including: threat, vulnerability, and risk assessments for natural and manmade disasters; job hazard assessments; ergonomic reviews; and safety evaluations of work sites, hazardous materials, tools, and equipment.
- Conducts safety inspections, evaluates potential hazardous exposures, analyzes incidents, prepares reports, and recommends corrective and/or preventative actions.
- Manages and provides emergency and safety related public outreach activities.
- Builds and maintains relationships with and between internal and external stakeholders.
- Supports and coordinates incident/disaster response and recovery activities as needed.
- Lead and communicate safety concerns and provide actionable recommendations to all Departments employees on safety issues and setting safety priorities.
- Conduct risk assessment, enforce preventative measures, conduct daily on-site visits to jobs to ensure safety procedures are being implemented and proper PPE is being worn,
- Perform other duties of a similar nature or level as requested by supervisor or director.
- Develops household/community-based safety and preparedness assessments, activities, educational materials for increasing household/community resilience.
- Assists and or leads the development of safety and preparedness campaigns for departments, communities, and stakeholders.

- Knowledge of applicable local, state, and federal guidelines, laws, and regulations in emergency and safety management.

Job Summary
Develops, coordinates, implements, evaluates, and administers the Pascua Yaqui Tribe safety and preparedness programs through preparedness, mitigation, response, and recovery activities. Support coaching, teaching, and training of all personnel on safe operating behaviors and the design, development, and implementation of safety and risk control programs. Functions as a subject matter expert and consultant to help managers and employees build sustainable loss improvement processes within their operations in regard to safety training.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities
Knowledge of:
Bachelor's Degree in Emergency Services, Public Health, Public Administration, or related field with 2-5 years of experience in Emergency Planning
AND/OR
Certificate of Completion of the Federal Emergency Management Agency's (FEMA's) National Emergency Management Basic Academy or ability to obtain within one year of hire and two years' work experience in emergency management, public safety, or related field, or an equivalent combination of training and education which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of this position.
